Would anyone happen to know the total length of slings for the Enfield, Kar 98, Garand, M1 carbine, Thompson, MP40 and Sten? Or be able to point me toward a source? I'm getting ready to cut some from paper and or styrene, but am not sure how long.
Or does someone make AM sets?
Thanks.
Oops, sorry. 1/35th scale.

Gosh, I never thougt of that I just sort of eyeball it myself. I do know that the sling on a BAR is long enough that if you unbuckle the back end you can stand on it (helps fight weapons creep on auto), and the sling on an M1 can be loosened enough to do the arm wrap method of firing. I don't know if this is what you are looking for, they don't seem weapon's specific, but here goes:

The length I've found online for the Lee Enfield is 42 and a half inches long.
Good info on this page about Enfield slings. I used to have one - don't know what happened to it.

I have this set and it's middling helpful: LOTS of slings but most for different weapons, so unless you're constructing a museum exhibit in 1/35th, it's not that great. Better, I think, is the Aber "Soldiers' Gear" set.

Slings are of course fully adjustable, so length depends on the height or build of the chap, or even the terrain, troops in jungle or wooded terrain may remove or shorten slings to avoid getting caught up.
I even served in one unit in the Australian Army that would not allow slings in the field, weapons at the ready at all times.
