Alright, I am having a issue with a diorama i started. I'm using Crayola Air Dry clay for the first time. I prepared my board and hammered tacks into the top for the clay to grab onto. I then put my clay down on the board and let sit overnight, direction say let dry for 2 - 3 days. I noticed today after doing all this last night that the clay was starting to get large cracks. Is this normal, and is there any way to maybe fill in the cracks with putty or alittle extra clay, or is my whole board FUBAR.

I would go back with more clay and fill in those cracks. You should be able to obtain a smooth surface. With most clay I have encountered if laid out in a flat surface like a diorama it shrinks and will crack.

I just used airdrying clay to make a wall and i had no problem with cracking at all

Perhaps your room temperature was not high and it dryed to fast.
You may also try to work some white glue in it in the future.
Anyway, your clay will probably not be the visible surface. You will addd earth, sand, grass or whatever and thecracks will easily ne covered.

Right, well that was the problem. It grabbed a bit too well didn't it?
All clay shrinks when it dries. If you'd laid it on something that would have allowed shrinkage, then there would have been no cracking. Now you have to fill the cracks.

Thanks for the suggestions, I filled the cracks in with a little more clay. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
