I ran across this photo album and thought it would be a cool dio to try.

So I found the Testors kit and rusted it up and added a few things here and there . The tank still needs to be sunk into the base a little more and a lot more concrete debris need to be added . The building still needs some more detail added . Thanks for looking , Toad .

Now trying webshots

Hi Carlton. Looks pretty decent to me ... as long as you add more rubble under the floating tracks.
One thing I notice is that the base is very grey/sandy, and the green/brown tank and thrown tracks have almost an extreme contrast. Bring some of the grey weathering onto the tank and add some more colours to the base to avoid this. It will look more natural.

Thats a great album and a cool scene to work with. Wrecks certainly are great fun to build and theres been some great blogs recently on burnt out tanks. If you get a chance to pop over to the military modelling website you should have a look at Mac Mcconnells T-55's they really are first class.

I'll be real interest to see the city scene progress.

Yo Carlton,

Nice start. Give the wall of the house a good sanding for a start. Nice setting and layout...a good base to work on.

Interesting! Didn't know that thing was there, maybe because I never served in Walenstadt... Probably one of the (I think) two M47 Switzerland bought for trials (we then decided to take the Centurion).

Nice start on the dio, looking forward to seeing more!

Cheers!

Dangeroo thanks for the input about the history of this tank . I settled the tank in and re wrked the building a bit .I scratch built the wire from mesh screen and the tire is from a old truck . The cat and dog are from tamiya kits .So I'm calling it done . Thanks for looking , Toad.

Carlton,

Pretty neat and faithful rendition of the photos. I like the dog, too! The last photo of the front of the M47 looks especially good.

For the title of this thread, I think you meant MOUT - Military Operations on Urban Terrain. MOUT

I thought you would want to know...

This came out real nice, one would never think it's in Switzerland... If I ever get to Walenstadt I'll remember this one.

Cheers!

Nice work Carlton

I think you have captured the atmosphere of the origial photos really well. I think it could be even further improved if you were to add a bit more in the way of weeds growing through the rubble, it would add a little bit of life to the whole scene. That said I think the composition is very good.
