Hey guys, I'm working on trumpeter's 1/72 M1126 with a bunch of Eduard PE, and am looking at scratch building the sniper shields, but I can't find any good picture or reference of them internet wise. Where do they attach to the top of the stryker and do they affect the strap position is infront of the rear hatches?
TIA,
Austin

I added the DUKE antenna and the slat armor arms. Anyways, still looking for references with the sniper shields. It appears as though there is some 1/35th PE that includes it. If anyone has instructions that would be willing to share, that would be excellent. Anyways, pics from today's progress.

Are the sniper shields the extra armor placed around the hatches?
If yes, I used thin sheet styrene.
If I'm right, please let me know and I'll try to post photos of the references I got them from soonest.

Turns out they aren't called sniper shields, but blast shields...
I got the instructions to them from eduards website for their 1/35th PE set, and am using that to base it off of, but here's some pics with the slat armor all on. The wheels have blue tack in the well so they are removable.
I started fashioning the barbed wire from some wire that I found, and the tow cable out of brass. Not where I want it yet, but it'll get there...
Take care,
Austin

Austin, your Stryker is coming along beautifully. You must be a superb masochist to be able to use all that PE in this scale. It sure makes my attempt at the M1126 look rather plain and dull.
Can't wait to see more.

Jan

Austin,
great job! Looks really incredible.
However, how are you going to paint it? Are these panels removable?

Thanks guys! The panels aren't removable, but I kinda doubt it'll be hard to paint. I think weathering will be harder...
I made some progress on the blast shields, well, at least on the rear one. I just have to do the side ones and then I'd say its ready for paint. The straps up top and all will be covered with the stowage set from black dog, which has been ordered from T&T, so whenever that gets here, it'll be added. I also got some work done on the base, however, there seem to be some "empty spots".
Take care,
Austin

Wow Austin it really looks great. Nice work, clean with the PE. It's going to look great once finished up in paint and the base is all done up. One thing...the barb wire role, it seems a bit large in diameter.

Thanks Joe!
I fixed that role, now its diameter is a tad larger than the slat armor, as per one picture I found on the internet, I forget exactly where it was, but it was a couple of strykers sitting outside of an apartment complex (I think) and about 10-15 guys ready to enter the building.
Anyways, for the COD campaign, I've been looking at how to do a few things, and I decided I'd test out stenciling and making my own posters for this build. The base isn't done yet, as I want to do more work by the broken part of the side walk and also put a poster or two up on the wall. I did however, do the stencil graffiti, and I like the way it turned out. And I painted the stryker too. I keep missing spots so I still have to paint a few more places before weathering, which I'm a little apprehensive about just because I don't weather armor models too often
First pic, figures:
Second pic, base w/ graffiti:
Third pic, base w/ stryker (knocked off one of the antenna):
Take care,
Austin

Painted the figures. Too humid to flat coat or touch up paint on the stryker though...

Definitely that is some great work on those 1/72 figures, especially the painting of the uniforms. Base is taking shape…great work!

Austin, you either are genetically gifted or have the best magnifying device and artificial hands that the world has ever experienced. The Stryker is beautiful but that first figure with the eyes is stunning. Now I know (and am reinforced) why I don't post my feeble attempts. BTW, do those in real life that view your work have to supply their own magnifiers to see the excellence of your work? Great stuff.

Thanks AJ and Joe! AJ, I actually don't use any magnification. It must be my young eyes...
Pretty much done until the Black Dog set arrives, unless I royally screwed something up. The boots have been touched up after I took the pictures, as you can see there are some spots where the dark grey plastic is showing.
Take care,
Austin

So the blackdog set came in while I was in Arizona, so I picked it up from the post office today, and can say that I am done with it. If (note: if....lol) I feel adventurous, I might add some garbage to the street and a poster or two to the wall, but for now.
This is probably my favorite out of the all the pictures that I took today
One without the stryker, so you can see the figures
Take care,
Austin
