Good evening.

I´ve just recieved at Trumpeter kit (00376) T-62 (mod. 1962) and I´m very pleased with how it looks, I did order a set of fruilmodel tracks (never gotten it right with the plastic originals..).
Since i have a thing for soviet tanks with mounted AA guns I have a question about the 1962 model. I read somewere on the net that a DShK 1938/46 was optional up to 1972 and standard equipment aftar that. Is it all wrong to put a DShk on the turret or did they occur in reality?
If they did does anyone know any good models?

cheers,
Martin

Tjena Martin

As far as I know the only model 1962 that had AAMG was the Iraqi ones that got a new loaders cupola and hatch with AA mount welded on. Drop me a PM with your e-mail and I'll send the info I got.

Var i Skåne bor du?

Cheers,

FYI, those tracks will not fit the sprockets too well. I recommend modelkasten ones... Hth, Dmitry

Kiyatkin: I see, do you know any wheels where the sprockets will fit the Friul tracks? I´ve already ordered them.

SFAIK, and have been able to find out, T-62 m62 do NOT have AAMG mounted as a general principal. There is ONE museum piece where a AAMG was added to a m62 and the Iraqi's added T-55 coupolas to some of theirs. Otherwise, the Soviets kept them slick (without AAMG) and just put the AAMG on the '72's when they came out.

This is what is CURRENTLY believed, but is open to revision if new evidence shows up.

Just looked at the Afghan T-62 pictures I have saved and found these:

Pictures of Model 1962 with M upgrades have been seen before (Tankograd book), but this also have a AAMG mount/cupola. Perhaps an M upgraded Model 1962 hull mated with an M upgraded Model 1972 turret?

Any thoughts (Jacques?)..?

Cheers,

I finished mine a few weeks ago with Fruil tracks and they fit just fine. Just takes a bit of jiggling (very technical!) to get them over the sprockets but the weighted look and detail on the tracks is worth it.
