Dear colleagues,
Does anybody know Sherman conversion kits in 1:72 scale just to make a Crab or a Dozer, or so.
If not conversion also complete tanks
Regards,
Sergio

Sergio, small scale modelers are astonishingly ill-served when it comes to the Sherman. All the existing kits are very old and all have serious dimensional accuracy problems. There appears to be virtually no aftermarket support for small-scale modelers, although somebody will probably correct me on that. All I know is, when I decided last fall to get back into armor after 20 years away I though that starting small would be the best way to start. I rapidly found out that such was not the case; the larger scale products were not only easier to work on but also had a much greater range of materials and suppliers with which to fix problems. I fear that for your dozer project, you're on your own. Time to hit the scratchbuilding forum, my friend....

All I know about are the Eduard photoetch sets for the Monogram M4A1 (also boxed by RoG in a Matchbox box). It is very nicely done to detail out a Sherman, but I don't know of any resin conversions. There are some very nice small scale Shermans out there.

Welcome Sergio, fellow braille scale modeller, most of this lot are 1:35'ers but I have to say, probably the most helpful people I have ever found. S & S models make both a dozer blade and a Crab conversion in white metal, but in 1:76 scale.

Have a look at on the way! for 1:72 kits and accessories as well, he has very good reviews and is a "pure" 1:72 modeller.

Well, thank you, Tanks! It appears that there is hope after all for small scale. I haven't totally given up on doing a few "little tanks" myself. But my view is still that the small-scale community is poorly served by the mainline manufacturers. Case in point: Hasegawa. I've noted several new releases in 1/72, all German. And that while their too-long and misshapen M4A3E8 stays on the market unchanged. Sigh. The Germanophiles win again...Greg
