Didn't think the kit looked right when it was released, and after some research with kindly assistance from Nick Perry & Paul Middleton I got to this......

Both models pictured will be on display at Duxford next Sunday at the Nationals [Midlands MAFVA stand] somewhere in the marquee.

Impressive! I'll be looking out for this one. Was the kit-supplied gun etc ok?

Well, yes, for the most part.

Some of the extra bits I used came from Bronco's Bofors (the yellowish bits). And, as I was also doing the Crusader III SP AA 40mm in tandem, and that has the non-electrical set-up, it was a fortunate coincidence.

The Italeri kit turret electrical power take-off is, quite frankly, appauling and as the turret tub is way too small and much too deep it was an easy decision to ditch them - they're moulded in anyway. I chose to completely rebuild the entire turret which enabled me to re-size and re-position the turret tub, adjust and correct the side armour plates, angles and appetures

Some minor modification of the basic Gun mounting was needed to reduce its overall height. There was then the need to replace the 40mm barrel, I chose the RB Models excellent offering.

I was also able to use all of the turret fittings from the kit on my rebuilt turret armour and saved some time.

Alan,

I'll definitely look you out at Duxford! That's some neat scratch-building...
