Has anyone seen or built this kit?
I have always wanted to build a North Vietnamese Army T-54 and was wondering if this kit would be any good to use?
Any advice would be gratfully received.
Cheers

The SKIF T-55 kits are BAD. You would be MUCH happier and better off starting with the Tamiya T-55. I cannot stress enough that the SKIF T-55's are not worth anything other than as cheap kits to practive painting techniques...

Why? They are way off dimensionally. Bad enough that they are worse than using the Trumpeter or Esci kits. Really.

I second what Jacques said. The Skif t-55's are utter crap, even if you ignore the massive accuracy problems, the plastic is awful (at least in the kit I had) and the details are incredibly soft and toy like.

The Tamiya kit an be bought from ebay for a reasonable price, they are listed on there all the time.

Thanks for the warning gents.
What would I have to do to a Tamiya T-55 to make it a NVA T-54?
Cheers

Thanks for replying Andreas, I meant a North Vietnamese Army T-54.
I should have remembered NVA can mean two different things!
My bad!

To make a T-54 the easy way, I would recomend the Tank Maker conversion: T-54 conversion

I cannot comment on the accuracy of the conversion for a NVA tank as I have not researched the real thing and I do not own the conversion.

There are other ways to make a T-54:Armorama thread

Hi Andreas!
Can you post bigger pictures of T-72M1 23. Pz.Reg. "Julian Marchlewski"

I especially interested for Blast-Models T-72A(M1) turret.
How good is it in compare with miniarm?

Hi Taras,

this is not my model, sorry. But i can tell you, that the quality of the turret is very good from Blast. I have this too for my t-72M1 in East German service.

Hello Taras,
hope you don't mind me jumping in with a reply but I can provide a second vote for the Blast turret. It's very nice and includes everything needed so there's no robbing parts from the Tamiya kit. I understand it's getting a bit hard to find, though.

The Tammiya T-55 has been or is about to be reissued. It's the best place to start. But you'll have to replace or rework the turret.
