I had bought a copy of the PC game Battlefield 1942 a few weeks ago and played it through pretty quickly in single-player mode. Then I kept plugging away at difficult campaigns like the Battle of the Bulge (as the Americans). All that practice finally paid off when I dared to go online and face.... the multiplayer games. I have been hooked for 4-5 days now (I am loosing track). This game is great! There are still some really silly things going on. Personally I have too much self-respect to run around the game jumping up-and-down to avoid being hit, but there are many "expert" players that don't seem to mind. There is also A LOT of same-team player killings going on. People wanting certain tanks or planes and not caring who is in their way to get them. Really sad. But these few low points are really overshadowed by all the other great aspects of this game. The first time I played BOTB in multi-player and realized how different all the units were behaving (vs. the AI controled ones) my heart actually started beating HARDER! I was really sucked into the experience much more and even felt a little worse when I shot someone (...well...a little).
Who else is playing this game? Maybe we can meet up and have Armorama team-play?
Cheers,
Jim

It's a great game, especially online! I love it! Do you have the expansion Road To Rome? It's does a great job of adding to the already addictive game. I also use Belkin's Nostromo which definetly increases your survivability. The best I've done is 37 kills/4 deaths.

Danny,
I also just finished up Spearhead. It went really fast for me. Expansions tend to be too short in my opinion. I will definately be getting the Secret Weapons of WWII one when it comes out for BF1942.
I have never multiplayed with MOH though. Is it any good? I actually like the graphics a lot more in MOH.
Cheers,
Jim

And what is "Belkin's Nostromo"??
Ahh...googled it. Very interesting. Actually I don't seem to mind the keyboard and mouse. Although when attempting to fly without a joystick I meet an untimely end about 25% of the time. I ussually just use planes to get from point A to point B. I think the flying logic is BS in this game. Planes fly by at ridiculously low speeds. I would love to see a BF109 do 15mph in real life.

I've been playing almost daily for four months at least. Very addicting. They release map add ons as well. They just released Battle of Britain where everyone mainly flies planes. Road to Rome expansion is also really fun. The Secret Weapons expansion should be out soon as well.
There are a couple mods for modern desert combat (can't remember the name) and I have heard someone is working on a Star Wars mod.
I'd join a team play if we had one. Let me know if anyone wants to group up.
Cheers,
Jason

Anyone of you played the Vietnam Mod? I own you all on it! (sorry the language)
Eve of Destruction
Oh... There is also a Starwars Mod (Yodaman, you should really try it), but I didn't like it as much as Eve of Destruction.
BTW: Does this discussion really fits in on Site Talk?

DEAR GOD!!!!!!!!
I'm absolutely beside myself!!!!!!!! Fellow Armorama nuts playing the same game that has owned what used to be my sleeping hours. I am a fanatic for the game! Great to know some other Modeling guys are playing it as well. I just downloaded the demo for the secret weapons add-on. Haven't tried it yet but will in just a little bit. It would be awesome to play with some of you some time. I go by the name Capt. Hank McGivern. And at 32 I thought I was a dinosaur compared to the average player. Maybe not now.
See you on the beach!
John
