Hallo,

i need some info to complete my Panther G early.
Does anyone know what kind of zimmerit pattern was used on Panther G early tanks in the Normandy campaign 1944, especially those Panther G´s used by the 12th Waffen-SS?
I searched for pictures in the net, but found nothing.

Greetings from Germany

Hallo. Wie geht es Ihnen ?

Not sure on exact pattern of Panther Ausf A's and G's in Normandy. However, Cavalier makes 1/35th latex Zimmerit for both. There are 2 sets for the Panther Ausf A: Tile and Horizontal patterns. There are 2 sets for the Panther Ausf G: Tile and Horizontal patterns. There is alsop 1 set availible for the Panther Ausf D as well: Diamond pattern. (I dont think the HJ operated any Ausf D's; I stand corrected)

My guess that the 12th SS Pz Div (HJ) had Panthers with either the Tile or Horizontal pattern Zimmerit. 12th SS was the only fully equipped Panzerdivision in the Normandy area in 1944. HJ also got brand new equipment before most other units as well.

Also, Archer Dry Transfers has at least 2 new sets (and 1 older one) of markings for 12th SS Panther Ausf G's. Very good I might add.

Hope this helps you out.

Prosit !!

Well cavalier does have the latex zimmerit. but be carful with cavalier sets!!!! most of their stuff for the panther is for the italeri kits!!!!!! If you have the DML or Tamiya kits I'd suggest looking for the Atak or one of the eduard sets to add your zimmerit. As for the pattern most pics I have seen for that time period have been the tile pattern. Its what I'm going to add to my Panther A in Normandy! HTH STUG
