All:
I am seeking some advice on how to best "damage" or chip the zimmerit on the recent Dragon "w/zimmerit" kits. I am looking in particular for advice on how to "spall" or chip the zimmerit while leaving the "metal" hull surface relatively intact, smooth and level- as in when zimmerit was chipped-off by small-arms fire or other non-penetrating impacts. HELP!
Any ideas and all advice are welcome. If you have done this on any such Dragon kit and have any pics showing your results, I would greatly appreciate seeing such!

Hi Bob,
I just attacked the molded on zimm with a fresh nr 11 blade and a Mission Models micro chisel. I wanted some remnant of zimmerit to remain, so i didnt make the underlying surface dead smooth. You can see in these shots the lighter area where i punched through the plastic (a little over vigorous!).. I patched this up with some Tamiya putty.
And under paint:
Hope this helps

I would suggest trying one of the micro chisels to obtain your desired result.
