Just how could this be translated into any scale? Found on the 'Net yesterday after it was published in a British newspaper:

The British soldier was 5'6", the German, 7'6"...

So this is how Dragon scale their figures! It all makes sense now.

Wow, what a great photograph.

I think it is close to a 1/48th scale figure next to a 1/35 scale figure. At 1/48th, a 5'6" person would be 1 3/8" tall while a 7'6" person would be 1 7/8" tall, which is close to the approximate height of a 1/35th scale figure. Of course, only for height, as the proportions of the 1/35th figure would be off.

Have a good one. -zon

Plus, any standard items such as weapons would be off. Easy to solve when they're separate parts; not so easy when they're integral. Heads and headgear would also be a problem - very tall people tend still to have heads the same size as the rest of us.

Remoinds me of some pictures I once saw from WW1.
There were small Britsh troops, moving off German POW's...
What was the name of these guys again? Bantams or something like that??

Interesting exercise. There is a very similar photo of a bunch of 5'9" Germans frisking a 6'6" Norwegian in 1940. For the British figure, almost any Tamiya 1/35th scale Brit would do, as they customarily make their figures average height for a Japanese, regardless of nationality. For the extra tall guy, start with another maker's figure, say Dragon or Miniart, and saw them apart at elbows, knees, and waist, and add styrene shims to lengthen them. Don't use an overscale figure, though. Note in the photo that the heads of both men are virtually the same size. While human torsos and limbs vary greatly, the size of the head varies much less. A tall figure with a bigger head will "read" as just that, a figure of the wrong scale. And of course, standardized equipment should be of a standard scale.

IIRC, Academy's German Supplies & Crew set had a few guys that might fit the bill.
When compared to other brand's figures, these guys were tall and lanky like a couple of players off an NBA basketball team.
I think these guys may fit the bill.
Cheers
