Was wondering if I build the Dragon Sep that I have and add the tusk stuff with add-on armor can I put the old dragon mine plow on it?
A go or no go.
Thanks all.

Go.
I believe there have been several photos on the site of TUSK and plow equipped Abrams tanks.

I say what the hell, go for it! I don't think anyone would be crying foul if you did.

Not so true Evan, most would cry foul. I know I’m going to get slack for this…but we forget it’s just modeling, not that there’s anything wrong with that BUT it does get out of hand from time to time.

Okay, some may cry foul. I wouldn't though. It's your model, do what you think will look the best while still keeping some accuracy in mind; especially with something like this that is within the realm of possibility. It's not like your taking an M1A2 and putting and old Tiger turret on it.
Just my thoughts. I think we're pretty much on the same page here.

Since weight seems to be the thing that's gonna snag you up- You could do a cool little scene with an M1A2 TUSK w/ Mine Plow and have it broken down because of all the weight. The crew could be standing outside with guys fixing it going "what the hell were you thinking?".

Go for it !
If roller or plow can be fitted to the M1A1 with TUSK, then it can (has to) go on the M1A2 as well. Additional weight thing? Don‘t bother, tanks using the devices have to operate more "carefully" anyway, especially with the mineplow.
And units equipped with the A2 still have to preform the same tasks as those with A1s, tusk, plows and rollers and all.
Cheers

I had plans of building the same setup, Jeff, but what I found is that the belly armour gets in the way of the base plate for the plow, so I ve just gone for an M1A2 with TUSK.
The base for the roller fits fine with the TUSK armour as it doesnt extend so far down the hull, if this makes sense?
If you want I'll post a couple of shots of my kit showing the problem.

Go for it at the end of the day its meant to be an enjoyable hobby and its all about having fun I know on prime portal theres an m1a1 with the mine roller and tusk kit I think being 100% accurate on every build can ruin the fun aspect so just give it a crack.
Thanks out cunny12.

Thanks all.
Joe I guess I should done a search.
As Joe said want a real one not no paper tiger Arr I mean a paper M1
So as I have the M1 aim also I guess the plow would go on there and the Tusk on the M1A2 Sep.
So Joe did you ever do either?
Anirudh Arun
Please do post those pics better see before hand.
Just in case.

Sure thing Jeff, Here are the photos. The first shows the instructions for the mine plow from Trumpeters M1 panther II.
The second and third show that the base for the plow gets in the way of the belly armour from the Legends TUSK I kit. I know the Legends armour has some inaccuracies in the belly armour so there maybe something wrong with my build
If you want to see how the Legends kit fits on a SEP check out my build here: M1A2 SEP

Not just yet Jeff, I'm finishing up a 1/32 F-16, AFV M1133 MVE Stryker and I work here and there on a 1/350th USS Enterprise. I plan on starting on both SEP's by mid July...will post progress. Looking forward to your postings.
Anirudh great build you got going on.
Happy Modeling,
Joe

Go for it, would look great.
I want to do a Leopard 2a5 or 6 with a mine plow. The sloping turret armor and the aggresive look of the plow, I think it would look sick.

Thanks for posting the pictures Anirudh Arun.
But the plow I am using is from the old Trumpeter kit of the late 90's the one with the heavy thick cardboard box.
Impressive piece of resin on the bottom there.
Must be a real bear to mount that in the field.
One piece a real bear.
When we use to change motors on the Army dozer's we used the strongest back guy on all fours as we unbolted the last few bolts and he crawled out and we took the belly pan off his back about 2 of us.
This I see might take more then that.
Nice job on that build.
But that belly armor decreases the ground clearance.
I wonder if they are Beefing up the suspension on these things?
I know that another 2 or 3 tons will put a load on one.
I have also noted that the top speed has dropped by 4 or 5 MPH since the M1's first came out, weight has gone up also of cause.
I bet the next version will address these things.
I just finished watching some on the Military Channel good deal indeed.
Only thing that gets me is that forward flash and dust that it raises,seems to be a give away.{stealth wise}
Sorry to get off topic.
Cheers

Glad you liked the build Joe and Jeff. I've finished the camo scheme, but its not the correct scheme for a SEP, but I liked the colours so why not. The photos are in my thread, and if you guys have any photos of the DUKE mount it would be really helpful.
The tankograd book says the belly armour decreases ground clearance by 200mm, but the Legends piece is much bigger than the actual piece, which only extends to the 4th wheel.
