Hello friends.
More than one year ago I've made my first step here on Armorama with a topic named Crete'41 Red Spring.
I've been impressed by Carlos 'Blockhaus' and Guy 'Guygantic' buildings made in cork and decided to have a go at this cork way.
Well, I haven't finished this diorama, and must admit that I've thrown away the house and the base for a long time now.
But the idea was still in my head, and, I've redone, a bit differently the whole thing.
A new house, a new work still focused on texture but also little than the earlier, maybe easier to finish.

BTW, here I am so far, and would be glad to have your thoughts.

The basic structure is made with heavy cardboard, cork and gesso.

Then I've worked the paint texture on one of the wall.

Some work on the groundwork and the stonewall :

And some details painting.

Have a great day,
Alexandre.

Hi Alex!
Nice to see you delve in another subject. It looks very promising, especially the plaster. You know that somebody will ask so I'm beating them to the punch - how did you do the damaged plaster?

Take care,Primož

that's quite nice to see you taking this diorama back, it had a lot of potential, and now i see you working on a more reduced base I just know that you're on for a winner!
Great blue texture too,
i will be watching as usual

Hi Alexandre. I remember this from before. Looked great then ans looks great now. Great results with the chipped paint and rusty light fixture. Very realistic.

Masterful little details Alexandre
This is a great looking vignette (or diorama? It is right on the border!)
The dusty ground looks superb, and the flaked wall plaster and paint and especially the light look terrific...

Ola gentlemen, thanks for your feedback, greatly appreciated, nice to have you all onboard!

*EDIT* = Wooowwow! CHAS YOUNG IS BACK IN THE DIORAMA SECTION!
Well, it's happy days then.

Now let's answer some questions :

Primož friend, the peeled look of the painted wall is done like this :
On a cardboard panel I spread Gesso and fine art modeling paste. This give the used and weathered texture.
Then I paint the color and while drying I use adhesive tape to remove randomly the paint, giving this peeled and chipped looks.

Thanks Jarle, JB and Franck, Dave, Phil and Claude! , appreciated!

Teodor, the house is made with cork, and the tiles with cardboard, please see below for a pics of it.

Ola Rudi, how are you? Cool to see you here!
A big thanks for the kind words Sean, I hope someone can find in my works some ideas to make their own, that's the only reason I'm posting pics of my dioramas.

HI Bradley! Great to see you there, a big thanks, well I choose "vignette" then, that's far less impressive! There will only have some figures, I hope for your help then it'll be the time to sculpt them...

So a WIP pics to explain how I make roof tiles :

Strips of light carboard, cut and shaped around a.... toothpick...
Yeah I know I'm the master of the cheap diorama making...

See you soon for the next update : roof painting!

Have a great day and take care friends!
Alex.

Yo Alex,

Damn good texture on the walls! Nice trik on the peeled paint.

That is a great looking vignette.
I have some questions about shaping the cardboard around the toothpick. Do you use cereal box cardboard as the material for the roof tiles? Do you dry roll the carboard around the toothpick with your fingers or do you moisten dampen the cardboard?

Cheers
Will

Oh man this is something ! Alexandre you've done a whole new scene, and it's a lovely one ! I like its compact appearance, the textures are done with an incredible eye for detail my friend ! Without a doubt, you are one of the greatest diorama builders I know.
