Hi, I'm new here and would like to say that this site has helped me a lot. I recently started working on DML's KT with Zimmerit (after reading an excellent review by Mr. Scott Espin). I came across a slight problem when it came to the instructions (I hate those photo instruction sheets) and would like to ask if any of you guys think part#8 from sprue O is shown as installed upside down in the instructions? This is the small part that you are supposed to attach to the front top portion of the turret, after you attach the glacis. I've been looking at several photos of the top front turret glacis of KTs (including the one at bovington) and has come to think that this part is shown installed upside down or is it a part that you can install both ways (like for early or late models of KTs). I hope you guys could shed more light on this for me. Research material in printed form is kinda short here where I am in the world, it's a good thing that the internet finally came along...thanks so much in advance and more power to you guys!

I know the part you are talking about and I was a little leery about adding it and I think it is a late early kind of thing. I added it but most pics I have seen dont show it . I have seen it a couple of times (I think). if you are building an early KT leave it off. If the pic with zimmerit doesn't show it it is pretty safe to say that it is a late or mid thing.
I would like to know for sure to! anybody know?

Hi Hans,
I had the same doubts about the part, but unfortunately only after I'd glued it in place. But there's definitely something not right with the part.
It should lie 'flush' with the rest of turret roof front, with a strip added for a rain gutter. As in the 'real thing':
..I don't think it's an early/late feature, here's a late KT with the same set up:
On my kit, because I'd already glued it in place, I just filed it flush with the rest of the roof front and added a piece of square strip for the rain gutter. Sorry, I can only find these post paint pics that show what I did:
Hope this helps some.

Wow! Really awesome pictures of your KT, Vanhall...I think I'll go with your suggestion. I'm gonna glue that part on tonight so that it'll stop nagging me, hehehehe! Thanks, guys! I really appreciate you helping me out on this one. BTW, I came across a site while I was posting this reply and it seems to confirm that the part is upside down. Check out the site and the pic below.
It seems that part#8 should be flush with the surrounding surface, look closely at the area to the right of the weld seam just below the lifting ring. Also, a wee little portion of the rain gutter can be made out near the top right edge of the spare track. This photo came from the website below:
