Hi folks,
I have a question regarding early OIF Amtracs.

Is it possible to mark it with 2/5 on the sideskirts and give it a vehicle number beginning with 1, e.g. 106 or 110 ?

The vehicle number I mean are the ones which are allover the outside of AAV, e.g. on the right side of the hull under the turret or on both sides of the rear ramp.

I have seen the 2/5 in Concord's SpecOps #26 but on the vehicle there is no such number as 106 or something like this visible.

TIA and have a nice weekend
Alex

Howdy Alex, yes those three digit numbers are possible and were put on the Tractors rear flank and ramp so the Grunts would know which hog to board when time came to move out. 1= 1st Platoon, next two digits are the tractor number in the platoon. There were also other markings variation applied by the units who were along for the ride. "The '2/5' means that the vehicle was attached to 2nd Bn, 5th Marine Regiment. So you could also see a Infantry Company marking of E,F,G,H or W marked somewhere too. There was a I MEF (Marine Expeditionary Force) Tactical Marking SOP in place but it was not followed or interpruted the same by all units. happy USMC modeling. Outta here, Mike sends . . .
