I agree!
In this case "NVA" means "Nationale Volksarmee"... which was the army of the former eastern german part called "DDR".
(I live there)

The other meaning of NVA is "North Vietnamese Army"... which can be very confusing.

To avoid this confusion, I've always called the East German army the NVA, and the North Vietnamese army the PAVN.
