Welcome to Armorama!!!

I think the refueling truck idea sounds fine. Maybe a jeep or two. What scale are you talking about?

Welcome again to the best, friendliest modeling site on the web!

Welcome aboard!

If that's 1/48 scale, you're already talikng a huge dio. Maybe a jeep would work to fill some of the space. A refueling truck might look out of palce with the paratroopers around. Risk of fire from smoking, etc.

In 1/72, maybe a deuce and a half unloading equipment or troops would work well.

When troopers board a plane, there is little more to see but the plane, the people and the occasional jeep. Don't do the refueling truck..... planes are refueled before the troops enter the boarding location.

Maybe you could use a backgroud poster that holds the same contents as you dio. This way you could simulate the preparation of a hughe airborne assault with rows of skytrains and lots of airborne troops.

I would love to see some pics of this dio !

Hey and welcome STB! Howsabout an ack-ack bofors with some Tommys? The Sandbagged emplacement could add some variety to the plentiful Olivedrab everywhere...
Good luck with it mate

Yes I was going to suggest an AA emplacement as well. depndent on scale how about a control tower. If its a modern theme how about the vehicle that tows the plane to position. If its a massed airborne drop of WW2 how about some carefully placed mirrors to to reflect the image multiple times to give the impression of alot of planes.
This could help keep the size smale but give the impression it is massive.

hi, you have watched Band of Brothers part 1 right??? well, you can make a dio from the para's taking on their equipment with as background (a poster) the C-47, now you don't get a huge dio and you can have alot more details
