Hey SGT
I have this exact model (stab # 312 ) sitting here on my shelf. The bakenkruz are located centered on the hull mid way between the top of the hull and the track skirts, just as on other Tiger's. Thet just are not visible on the left side because of the log in this case, but can be clearly seen on the right side.

Thanks Leogunner. I thought so but could not find a picture of the other side. I have seen Tigers with no crosses on them in Panzer colors and also another Tiger book that I have.
so if this is correct I will add them from the archer set that I have.
Question do you have photo evidence of this as I can not find any that this unit used crosses or bakenkruz as you suggest.
Thanks again
Jeff

Sgtreef...

I thought that the color of the horse-garment was related too the company the tank would be serving in.. I was wrong but according to Panzer Colors III the color of the horse-garment was related to the secondary camouflage color used (besides the dark yellow).
If the secondary color was brown, the horse-garment was brown, if the secondary color was green, the horse-garment would be green...

When I am going to build my Tiger, mine is going to be one of sPzAbt. 506

I have heard that all Tigers had Crosses
Most, but not all. Some Tigers were completely void of a Balkenkreuz.
UP UNITL EARLY 1944 I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY TIGERS IN PHOTO'S OF sPz Abt.505 WITH ANY BALKENKREUZ. ..... THERE ARE ABOUT 30 PHOTO'S OF 505's TIGER 1's IN THE BOOK TIGER IN COMBAT VOL.1 AND ONLY ONE HAD THE CROSS ON IT IN 1944. ...BEFORE THIS NONE OF THEIR ( early production ) TIGER I's CARRIED BALKENKREUZ

I have this exact model (stab # 312 ) sitting here on my shelf.
Tiger "312 " was NOT a Stabs Tiger ( Stab means Staff / HQ ) Tiger 312 was the number 2 tank in the 1st platoon of the 3rd kompanie. ( 300 & 301 were the Stab Tigers of the 3.kompanie )

The bakenkruz are located centered on the hull mid way between the top of the hull and the track skirts, just as on other Tiger's
The Balkenkreuz was placed where the crew wanted it. So it was not like " just like on other Tigers " Some were placed further left or right of center on the side hull, some center. Same goes for those on the turret

according to Panzer Colors III the color of the horse-garment was related to the secondary camouflage color used (besides the dark yellow).
If the secondary color was brown, the horse-garment was brown, if the secondary color was green, the horse-garment would be green...

That is just a total falsehood. As far as Panzer Color series of book's, their reference is not 100% completely accurate. As a matter of fact, Tom Jentz and a few other " top notch " Tiger researchers / historians "mock " Panzer Color book's, because of their inaccurate references. .............If you want ACCURATE info, ref's and histories on Tiger I & Tiger II tanks gets book's by Tom Jentz and Wolfgang Scheider. You get what you pay for.

TIGER "312 " from sPz Abt 505

Hi Dutch, a good place to start for Tiger book's by Jentz, are the two from Osprey ( New Vanguard Series ) ....Tiger I ( # OS2005 ) ..... Kingtiger ( # OS2001 ). These 2 books are only $12.95 each and contain the same quality reference that you will find in Jentz's more expensive books

- Also, I don't want to make the PANZER COLORS book's sound as if they're worthless. They are basically a decent series of reference books, but you just need to be careful of some of the info that you read from them. If you use any info from them on your panzer model's, you might want to double check it or do a cross-reference ....... And never completely trust color paintings or drawings. ( This only depends on how serious you want to get into your modeling. I have fun with all that "accuracy & authenticity stuff " You might feel the same or maybe not, the main point is to enjoy youreslf and have fun )
