G'day All,
I have a quick question for the USMC blokes re LAV R/M and C2.
The crew position behind the driver, in the Trumpeter kits it has a rounded ring (D shaped)directly above the periscopes with a hexagonal shape to the inside of the ring (part D1).
Is this correct? Or should it be “round” on the inside of the ring and shaped like the letter C?

Cheers Jason

Jason,
If we are talking about the same part. The ring which you refer is the commanders gun ring. It should be a round "C" shape, with the open mouth facing rearward. This is a skate rail for the pintle mount.

G'day Todd,
Great last name mate.
It would seem the skate ring (D4)is good, but the ring under it is the one I'm after (D10). The kit part has the pintle mount attached to it which is wrong. The triangle pintle should be on the skate and not the other way round.

Now back to the lower ring, is it “C” shaped of “D” shaped.
See image for clarification.

Cheers Jason

This LAV-L picture is rather poor but I think it's clear enough to show the "C" shaped part...
