It's like the Marines having Strykers. Wouldn't make too much sense would it?

On a seperate note, I like how Voyager PE sets are "multimedia" with the antenna mounts, barrel, and smoke tubes.

Looks nice...the smoke tubes look fantastic, but as usual with all the awesome PE goodness from Voyager, no matter how nice it is, a lot of it seems redundant, given whats INCLUDED in the Hobby Boss tuna boat kits....

Oh well.

Aren't the latches for the rear door and rear roof hatches way too thin?

Just the impression I'm getting seeing those pictures...

PE is fine as long as the thickness is in scale.

Cheers,

I've ordered this AAV set from lucky model and in time will have it in hand to see how well it suffices.

About those Smoke Grenade Tubes... Voyager did the same for the M1117 kit, I have them and they are really nice! The smoke grenades themselves are long resin bits which once you cut off the "sprue" fit nicely into the brass tubes..Simple and a Great idea.

Ahh, so I guess the Army is going into the Tuna boat business...?

Seriously, is this set any better than the Eduard exterior set...? Looks like ya get a lot more goodies with it. Just curious, do the PE parts fit any better (grills and such) for Voyager set than the Eduard sets?

And this might be a silly question but hey, why not: would the AAVP with the EAAK armor warrant a separate PE set...? I assume most of the external fittings are pretty much the same, but thought I'd ask, or as we used ta say in the Bronx, "ax"...

Last question: Keith F. has a nice review of Real Model's AAVP resin storage (etc.) on this site. The set looks great, but I have a question about one of the photos, which shows what looks like additional armor plate added to the mid-section of the AAVP --- is this a standard mod and does anyone have any photos of this mod?

Also, I love the photo with the old lady herding goats while a Marine reclines topside on the AAVP --- man, would love to see that subject sculpted!!

Here's the link to Keith's review that I mentioned:

Thanks, Folks!

Regards and Aloha,

Johnny B.

I really like that Voyager used only one set for the photos. This way we can see exactly what we are getting!

Hi Johnny
AFAIK this mod was specific to some 4th Marine Regiment AAVs. There was a shortage of EAAK armor and some hull top armor plates were modified to be fitted to the sides.

Here's a better picture :

Didn't you hear? The corp has been transferred to the US Army as a training and support unit. The USN finally got sick of those jarheads.

Mandatory classes on how to correctly pronounce "hoo-ah" commence immediately.

Welcome aboard!

BTW - that is a nice looking detail set!

Actually when I hear the Army guys say sound off it generally sounds like, "HUH?" so I always repeat myself.

So, we do get the antenna mounts, the 40 mm barrel, smoke dischargers and all the PE in one set? I can only see one article number in the pics - am I correct?

A belated thanks, Frenchy, for the info and pics --- as always, you are The Source!

To Voyager or anyone else who might know, I have a question:

The forward mesh/screen looks like it's got a series of small clamps (??) on top of it... Anyone know if that PE screen comes with those clamps already attached/molded/etched onto it?

I can see myself unintentionally filling half of the stinkin' engine mesh with CA trying to get those tiny a-- clamps in place if I've gotta put 'em on myself. If not, I'd be a happy camper.

Also, Voyager Models, are you planning on releasing a separate PE set for the AAVs with the EAAK armor kit...? Seems like there might be a few less parts on that set...

Many thanks, folks!

Regards and Aloha,

Johnny B.
