Hi,
Anyone out there knowing the correct Dimensions for the M551 Sheridan ?
As I intend to build a Prototype of the M551 Sheridan, I did compare the Model Dimensions from the old 1/35 Tamiya Kit with the ones I did find in several Tank books (Senger / Etterlin, Hunnicutt, Crismon, Jane's, Erkennungsblätter, ...) an approimately Width of 280 cm (281,9 cm exact). The Tamiya modell is about 5 mm too big in width, calculated to the Original approx 20 cm.
The measurements for Length and Highth are ok, as I can see.
Does anyone know why ? or at least wether the newerly released Academy Kit is more accurate ?
Thanks,
Alex

This review by Pawel should answer all your questions.

read Pawel's review, and it's a good overview. But one thing he questioned was the name "Body Count." There was a recon track named "Body Count" in the pring of 1969 with B Troop 1/1 Cav operating in the area west of Tam Key and on out into the Que Son Valley and Northern base of the Hiep Duc Ridge AO. (out by Hau Duc, Siberia, and the Pineapple Forest) I've seen several of pictures of the track that are in my brother inlaw's possession. He also said there was another Body Count in the 1/4 Cav way down south. Larry was in the 1/4 Cav for awhile before being shipped up north to be with the 1/1 Cav.

My question is kinda close to Alex's in that what is the "recipe" to make the best Sheridan using Jaguar, Academy and Tamiya parts? I have heard that the Jaguar lower hull, with the Academy upper hull and Jaguar turret is one path to get the ultimate Sheridan model.
Any others using a Tamiya & Academy mix or using components of all three??
John - who has two Academy and one Tamiya and used to have the Jaguar kit...

I've been trying to lay my hands on a Jaguar Sheridan for quite awhile, without having to take out a second mortgage!
Jaguar does sell the tracks seperately (they also come with wheels if I remember right), and they look very nice. I've got a couple sets as well as one Fruil set. AEF or somebody like that sells an upper hull, and somebody else sells a turret made of resin (I have one of each in my stash). But who made the turret I have no idea

Seems to me that the biggest issue was always the shape/size of the driver's hatch and surrounding area.

Jeff,
That is the built up Jaguar kit... I had one and sold it. Now I got kinda a "do-over" with the kits I mentioned above plus a set of the Jaguar wheels and track. The goal is to create a late 70's Border Cav - 2nd or 11th ACR Sheridan.
