Well, I'm calling it done. Moving it from the workbench to the braille shelf.
Fun kit, nice fit, decent tracks, moving on....

Thanks for the comments during construction.

Nice work, but I have question. Did you paint all model by airbrush?

I painted it with an AB and brush.
The basecoat is AB, the wishbone stripes are a brush, the brown between the stripes is AB, the dust over all is a an AB.
Pin washes etc. were brushed.

Hi Scott. The stug itself looks good, but those side shurzen must be the thickest Ive seen to date. Its a pity you didn´t replace them with some thin card. There also looks to be a large finger print under the "243" numerals on the first image.

Hi Scott,

Good looking StuG IV! Well done. I like the camouflage. The weathering blends everything together well.

Looking forward to your next model!

All my best,

Fred

Frank - that's not a finger print - that's where a big tree branch swipped across it and left even marks (doh- you're right )
It's 1/72 scale kit so everything was a bit on the heavily molded side, the shirt brackets are 'beefy' too. I built it at the beach on vacation so it was purely OOT on the build side.
Thanks Jaymes, Fred, Alexander and Martyn

Hi Scott

I like the camouflage design on this Stug IV. Its quite an old kit now, with a few issues, but sounds like it was a fun holiday build. You can always spray, or dry brush some light dust or mud on the skirts over the fingerprint, or brush on some ground pastel chalk dust, dry or mixed with water.

I've sometimes thought of taking kits on holidays. When away from home for work I'd sometimes pack a few kits and basic tools, so I'd have something relaxing to do of an evening or weekend.

cheers
Neil

Very nice build there, Scott. Now this kit looks like something even I might be able to do. A shame they made the skirts a tad on the thick side. Thanks for sharing.

Regards,
AJ

Yea - for a 1/72 scale kit the skirts do come a bit thick. Oh well.....
AJ - you can totally do this kit. It's basic stuff. At a 3 foot viewing distance this is even better. The macro setting on the camera is good for tight close shots. Normal viewing of 1/72 scale stuff is quite a bit farther away.

Vacation building is a lot of fun. A few kits, a knife, snips, sander, file and glue and you're good to go. I would wake up and before everyone got up I would enjoy the quite and glue some. My recommendation for vacation building it to take a few kits and dont' sweet the small stuff. Make sure you bring 'tupper ware' type of box to bring assembled kits home with so they make the trip.
