Given the limited market and the complicated build involved are we being realistic in expecting DML or any other company to give us this in plastic in 1/35 scale. I can see the possibility of the stripped down version without the screens and inflatable tubing but not the full version.

i think that probably a full kit can only be expected of DML, due to DS.
other than that, tasca (as they seem to me the only ones apart from DML to release shermans) could offer a partial one, or maybe a full one with kamizukri 3d paper (slight chances, to my opinion)

I'm not sure if either company is man enough to do it, but a DD Sherman would sell like hotcakes! (I hope the bods from DML are listening...) It's a truly iconic vehicle that everyone seems to want, so the makers would struggle to lose money on it.

I'd put my money on Tasca before DML. If DML made a complete one I'd also put money on it being a Cyber-Hobby white box kit myself. Followed five years later by a DML Smart kit of course.

Just as soon as Tasca or anyone else releases even info on a DD coming out, DML will come out with one.

I'd prefer Tasca, but I wouldn't write off Dragon so quickly (regardless whether it comes out as Cyberhobby). The demand for this model means whoever gets there first will really clean up. They'll certainly get my money!

Well you're all a lot more optimistic than me. I can't see this happening for a long long time.

Look, it is inevitable that a DD Sherman is going to come out, it's just a matter of time. It appeals to the needs of Shermaholics, fans of amphibious AFV's, and anyone who just likes weird and interesting things. I happen to be all three, so I'd be tripley happy (hint hint DML and Tasca) Although in all honesty I really only see DML pursuing this...

I mean who the heck would want a landwasserschlepper, or even knows what the heck one is? ... Oh wait, it's German... (hides wishlist)

I could see the modified hull coming out, but like Pat states, the complexity of the screen and tubing limit the options. So far there has been reluctance, with the exception of Academy, to even offer wading trunks or a dozer blade. If Dragon ever release a late M4A3 75 maybe Cyberhobby will release one with the T-6 flotation device.

Now, if the Germans had developed the DD tank . . .

I don't think it's likely at all.

DML could always do one as a beutepanzer.

In fairness DML have done quite a lot of Shermans. I would still put my money on Tasca though simply because they do appear to put making a quality kit ahead of making a kit that will sell well. Tasca Shermans can be twice the price of others but they still sell. So it's not inconceivable that they would consider a DD Sherman worth the investment as I'm pretty sure it would sell in sufficient numbers to make them happy.

If Dragon were going to put one out I would expect to see a new M4A2 Smart Kit come out first.

I believe DML have the technology and could do the kit, with or without the skirt.

I believe is has great sales potential.

I believe if I buy the Resicast resin kit that should speed things up

Oh look!! there's a flying pink pig, I better get one of those, never went into production, but we have the drawings and it's bound to sell: Pz8FGP TrotterMax Mk II. Sorry couldn't resist

Seriously though the technology exists and a DD is quite do-able. It's the last great Sherman Challenge in plastic. There was a thread about this not long ago and DML look to had the edge if they choose to take it.

As regards the skirt, well if you can mould stowage then you can mould the skirt. It would sure make an interesting build or six.

Do you have the RAL number for that pink ? Are you sure it wasn't actually just a primer ?

Whether DML do one or not about the only thing that would seem pretty certain is that it would be out of left field. They tend to not telescope their releases, presumably so the opposition don't see it coming ( I could see some sequestered chinese design team in a hermetically sealed bunker working from photos taken in a museum using hidden cameras in briefcases together with stratigically marked walking sticks from which to take measurements ).

I'd love to see one screen-down set post Normandy landings. DS styrene could realise the folded screen and the framework can't be too hard yeah? I'd have a great 70TB scene in mind with attched infantry...

The screen even folded is quite big. Have DML done anything in DS styrene that big?

British M4A4 DD, Rhine Crossing, March 1945: I want one. And I'd buy at least two.

Thanx for listening, Dragon (and sons), Tasca and all ye willing!

I sincerely hope that we do see a DD Sherman in plastic - if for no other reason than to stop all the Shermanoholics constantly banging on about it on modelling forums, LOL

(Sorry guys - couldn't resist! Just taking a pop in jest. I hope that someone delivers the goods for you).

If someone, somewhere, could produce a grainy photo or some documentary proof that on D-Day, an abandoned D.D. Tank was over-run by a German Army unit who hastily painted a black cross on the turret and used one of it's MG's in combat for 25 minutes before running out of ammo and abandoning it............DML would bring it out as a kit (with only the German decal option of course!)

Seriously though, it would be good to see one with a floatation device of some kind.

If they do eventually produce one, we will then be able to all start asking..........."Will they bring out a Sherman 'Crab' Flail Tank next?

Now THAT would be something wouldn't it?
