I am wondering what tanks the 5 SS Wiking division had in Jan. of 1942 in the Ukraine.

the wiking was an a light division so the tanks where light, for reconoisence and exploration, I think they used panzer 38 t , panzer II and panzer III ...
But I'm not sure...

5th SS Wiking was refitting in Germany until late September of 1942. They did not reach the Ukraine until mid-October if I recall correctly. They were officially renamed to 5th SS Panzer Grenadier Division Wiking. Presumably it was their transformation from SS Panzer Division Wiking to SS Panzer Grenadier Division Wiking that had them in Germany prior to October, I'll have to check on this to be more specific than that.
At any rate - they most certainly would have been equipped with any tank in German service at that time - just like regular units.
