well at long last I get to show some pictures of the M48 I have been working on recently. using the Tamiya M48 and the verlinden turret with a Barrel store metal barrel plus the AFC club tracks.
I still have the crew and storage to do plus the additional .50 cal but any comments welcome
cheers
Keith

Keith,
FYI, that's an M48A3. Externally, the A2's didn't have the fender-mounted air cleaners. The engine deck also has slightly different contours. Nice model, though.
Regards,
Georg

And only had 3 return rollers instead of 5. Definitely an M48A3 and definitely a nice model.

I like it, but you painted the spare tracks all rusty. The majority of the tracks were rubber. This is the same type of track on a vehicle in a wintery, road salted area. The rubber is still black in color.

Whether its an M48A2 or A3, ALL USMC tanks had 5 return rollers, so that's not an indicator for this. That being said, yeah so its an M48a3, but its very nice! Good job.

Is your coupla's 50 cal barrel missing or under the sandbags? What color did you use to paint the tank?

Tom from what I've read the 50 cal was sometimes mounted on top of the commanders coupler because the interior of the coupler was cramped and made it uncomfortable for the commander don't quote me on it though.
Keith great work I love the OD colour you've created. What are you using for the crew?

Hi Keith,
Great looking model! I've also got that Verlinden resin turret but I've never seen it finished. I must say it looks very effective. Looking forward to seeing the stowage & crew.
Jaymes, you're spot on about the interior mounted 50 in the commanders cupola. It WAS very cramped in there but also the weapon was mounted sideways, believe it or not, & the weapon was then prone to jamming. Not good in a firefight!
Not sure about the 5 return rollers on USMC A3's but I'll take your word for it.
Joe.
