Anyone know where I can find some ref. photo's for this beast?

I want to build it with the dish raised, and I am wondering what the hole under the dish looks like, if there are wires coming out of it...and so on and so forth.

anything would be cool.

I found those. Not sure if it is what you need.

Yeah, that is the ONE photo of the system I can find. I have sent a e-mail to Sergej to see what he may have.

I Can't find anything myself either, I've tried both russian and ukrainian websites that I use all the time, but nothing. Either this thing is a prototype or just never went into service as I can't think why this vehicle would be a closely guarded secret since you can find just about every russian vehicle on the web. Hopefully Sergej can give us some insight on this BTR.

this car on the basis of the command staff car on the chassis of the BTR-80, therefore as a base you can use the preserved specimens KSHM

Olegas, that is a BTR-80 R-439BV1 not the R439 MD2.

Here are the only other pictures I have found, anywhere:

Two other not-quite-related but interesting links:

PU-12M7

and

R-439BV1

Wow I guess this thing does exist, still I can't figure out why we can't find anything on this vehicle, after all it's just a satellite uplink. I've tried some websites that have the most obscure subjects and nothing on this beast.

I know that this is a different machine, but the difference is very minimal, but with different antennas and their claim, base from the same KSHM

Hi Guys,

Thanks you guys. it's a start!

Jacques, Sergej must have some refs that he built from, drawings even? Thanks for the pictures and links interresting stuff,

Christopher, thanks for the effort.

Olegas, thanks for the link.

I have started cleaning up the conversion and mating it to the Zvezda bottom hull. I will post images in a new thread, when I get the time.

Again thank you all.

Good luck with the build.
The only real problems I ran into with the SP kit is mating up the lower rear hull of the Zvezda with the cast upper from SP. Hopefully yours will fit much better than mine did. Can't wait to see the build.

If anyone has some information.... does this vehicle transmit data trough "Geizer/ Potok" satellites? (both names are the same satellite - -Geizer- is the name of the satellite; while -Potok- is the name of the transponders... also both names are mixed)
Note: This satellite transfer data of electro-optical-satellites to ground-stations.
But I have no exact information, because these satellites and their mission seems to be a secret.

greetings...
Soeren

If Sergej has more, he is not letting on. That is all he has too.

I think the sensitive nature of the vehicle lends itself to be unseen more than other vehicles.

As for the BTR-80 Upper hulls from SP Designs, all you need to do is clip off about 1/4" from either side of the LOWER hull at the side egress door point (this was a concession to make the one piece upper hull sturdy around the side egress doors). I will try to post a photo of this later.

Good picture, my guess is the opening is closed and cables are routed out down low, lots of rain and snow, ya know?

hmm down and low, does not seem like a good option, One of the pictures in one of the links posted earlier on, shows an apeture at the rear of a BRDM turrent where the cables ran out. I figure that the cables must run out underneath the dome, with some sort of sock or sheath that would make the opening a lttle more weather-proof. Without solid info, I am only going with my best guess. BUt I would be glad to hear of any better suggustions?
