Hi, Been working on and off on an Academy M-51 Super Sherman here the last couple of weeks or so, and have come upon a fret that has several plastic rounds for the cannon on it. Don't know what I'll do with them, but I thought I would clean then up and paint them, just for the heck of it.

My question is: does anybody know what colors the heads on these shells are? There are three different kinds. One set is kind of short, so I would guess its either regular HE or a smoke round. The others are longer. One set with a pointed head--I'm guessing solid shot--and the other set with a rounded-type of head--again, guessing, this is HEAT. I figured they are all painted differently on the warhead to make them easy to distinguish inside the vehicle. I could just go ahead and guess at it and it wouldn't make any difference, but I just thought I would pose this question to see if anybody out there had any idea on it first. Looked on the IDF modling site and there was nothing there I could find.

Thanks in advance and take care, sgirty

Ican't say I 'm 100% correct but here's what I beleve will help you. the main gun on the M51 sherman was essentialy a shortened version of the AMX 30's main gun .IF your looking for shell infor mation that may be an avenue to explore . In the mean time I'll forward you question to some of our sherman experts.
