I'm new to modern armor and was wondering if these are modern US jerry cans.
http://www.track48.com/shop/product.php?productid=760&cat=3&page=1
If not then which nationality are they?
What are the other containers (eg rectangular one as well as the battery shaped ones).
thanks
Tim

Hey tim,
well, it depends on how modern you want to have it...
half of the three-handled cans (there are 'german' and the 'american' stylecans included) should be suitable for any post WWII US vehicle ... anyway, nowadays mostly 'scepter' fuel and water cans are used. http://www.sceptermilitary.com/fuel_containers/
As for the square and rectangular shaped cans I recall having seen something similar on modern vehicles, can't remember which type though... they do look pretty much like they're made for lube oil storage, so I think it's not that inaccurate to use 'em...
It also seems like that set is in 1:48th scale, so if I'm not mistaken black dog should do a set of modern water cans as well...
hoping this helps...
Cheers, Max

Tim,
Welcome to the site! That set is aimed at WWII, although the three-handled cans were used well into the 1980s when plastics became more common. The square & rectangular cans were British, originating in WWI and replaced during WWII by the three-handled cans with the WD markings. (These WD cans were direct copies of the German "jerry cans" of WWII fame.) The rounder three-handle can is a US version of the jerry can.
If you model truly modern stuff (say 1990s-present) then you really want a set of plastic cans instead of these.
Hope this helps,
Tom

Thanks Tom & Max for your reply.
I am primarily interested in 28mm/ 1/48 scale modern Iraqi Freedom for wargaming and hence the jerry cans to decorate my US vehicles.
I know that Blackdog have a 1/48 set withmodern US jerry cans but they only have 8 in the set. I guess I will have to settle with 3 handle ones then.
Does anybody know of any other company that makes modern US jerry cans in 1/48.
Thanks

Verlinden or Ledgend might be worth looking at for US stuff plus Plus Models.
Welcome along.
