Hi friends, again with new method of making mud for diorama scenery ground work. This method of making mud can use to make mud surface texture or tree trunk texture too. It's fast and easy also you can keep it for another works as you need. Thank you to every comments and suggestions from everyone.

drop white glue (latex) to plastic ware (big or small depend on yours work.)

mix on saw dust to the glue ratio 1:1

stir glue and saw dust.

use pulp in brown color and spin it.

mix after spin pulp and drop some turpentine then stir its.


prepare one piece of foam for scenery base (up to yours style)

coat fake mud to scenery base by easily using yours finger.


texture it with plastic sheet.

prepare trees and others while waiting the mud dry.



banana and sugarcane trees.

scatter some of broken bricks to the ground.



after finish and mud is dry then create yours scenery ( I design this scenery to story of Vietnam war.)

mud surface. you can make more dark color if you want.




You can add more fake mud if you want more texture and more details of the surface you want. time for mud use to dry is about 2 hours depend on how thick of it.

No suggestions - except maybe make the edge of the diorama more uniform/smooth - otherwise, perfect!

This looks good. And a good and easy technique^^ how do you make mud if you wan't it to look wet? I saw a guy adding floor varnish or something. Maybe you got something else?

always fun to see your work Prasert. one option i use is, instead of saw dust, i use fine sand with the fine dirt/water/glue. i find the sand brings the dirt down in scale and works to create a denser "mud".

I'm not sure Jan; I think the rough edging adds to the feel of a 'chunk of jungle' ripped out for display, subterreanean and all The shape of the base really adds to this feel methinks...

I also had many ideas in mind about streets, buildings and also some muddy scenery´s.
Using some plants can give more complex results. (it looks better)
