Hey guys..this will be my first try at a build log. I am working on the Hobbyboss ZTZ 99B MBT. I plan to add the Voyager "jumbo"detail set, which seems to replace every bit of plastic on the kit? Any questions, comments..positive, or constructive is highly welcome. I really love the digital camo..but am concerned the PE might not handle the complex masking.
Heres the build so far..enjoy!!!!
I decided to blank off the grilles..
that looks better
I added the PE mudflaps, and lights:
still working on the straps on the fenders, and the jewel like turret baskets. more pics to follow!
Jeff
and a shot of the fuel drum racks, mudflaps, and tool box?

Well, have fun I guess... but I've just finished building the straight 99 and it's pretty good without the brass detail set. You might need a few things but I believe you'll find a lot of the set is superfluous.
The fuel line on the right side of the hull is poor and it should be replaced.
I found the brush guards for the lights were very delicate and difficult to clean up and one was actually broken in my kit. Rebuilt them out of plastic, but if you're up for the soldering job brass is OK.
The tracks are excellent and fit beautifully.

Thanks for the remarks..I didn't realize the kit detail was so good before ordering the PE set. Thanks for the headsup on the fuel line..I'll change it out.
Dave..did your set include the front mudflaps? They are way overscale..and not included!!!! Time to break out the leadfoil
I thought the pics were pretty poor, and lacking the detail..oops!! I adjusted the camera, and took a few shots of the turret detail. I;'m still working on the smoke launchers..these chains are TINY!!!
I thought the mudflaps were overscale, and lacking the sharp details..heres the PE replacement..check out those hinges!!!!
I also started removing the fender straps...any one know what there for? Appears to be a fuel tank?
I'll finish the turret basket, and snap a few pics along the way.

The exhaust port should be merged with the fuel cell to the left of the band, it'll require filling and sanding.
The rear fenders look OK but the flap extending behind is a little too wide. HobbyBoss' is too narrow, I guess some where in the middle is best. There should be a latch securing each fender at the rear hull plate.

Thanks Kevin for catching the exhaust..i should just fill the seam, and blend it right? Also the mudflaps aren't finished..I'm missing 3 little brackets, and I found the one you mentioned!
David- Thanks for stopping by! I've followed yours closely. The missing front mudflaps surprised me..all the tiny details, and they didn't include them???
I appreciate all the comments..its the only way I'm going to improve my skills

Cool!! I noticed the 99A turret looks more "upright". The turret on mine lays down more. The rear hull is different, theres a step in the mudflaps, where the 99b tapers . I'll have a look thru the manual. see what else I can dig up!
The build came to a crawl..the turret basket has been giving me trouble . I'm having issues trying to get rear to mesh up w/ the armored side plates..theres not much surface area .
