I was wondering what aftermarket upgrades are available for Trumpeter's 1/35 LAV-R (kit# 00370).

I believe this to be an accurate kit, but I would like to make any improvements necessary. I would also like to replace the kit rubber tires with resin ones.
Cheers

Excellent MH, I just need some resin wheels and a good set of correctly translated decals (if you haven't seen the ones from this kit, they would make for a good laugh).

G'day Jeremy,
The Crew Commanders machine gun mount is quite poor and inaccurate as is the Mag58. Or M240 as the US call it.
Mouse House is about to release an update for this part. I will post a couple of images of it tomorrow if you would like?

Cheers Jason

I don't know about any AM set but you could add the hydraulic lines of the crane.

Here is what i did for my Canadian Husky which has quite the same crane but with a slightly different lines arrangement.

Marcel: Excellent, thanks!

Jason: I had the same thoughts. I would love to see a picture of the upcoming Mouse House offering.

Olivier: That is very helpful, I hadn't even thought about that aspect yet. What material(s) did you use to replicate the hoses/lines? For some reason thick gauge copper wire comes to mind.

Jeremy,
As promised. There are a couple of other parts to add that are not in the photo's, but I will have to confirm if they will fit the LAV-R as they have been designed for the ASLAV-F/R. The parts in the photo will be realised as a set for the LAV-R. Mouse House MA126? I think. Should be available in a couple of weeks.
Cheers Jason

Thanks Jason, that looks like a significant improvement over the stock parts. Let me know what you find out about the other parts.

Jeremy,
the lines are made from copper wire for the thin stiff ones which run over the crane arm and lead wire (fuse wire) for the soft ones. The connexions were boltheads (two per line) drilled in the middle to fit the lines.

Hey Jeremy,
Seeing as you are interested in the LAV R, and also in the Down Under Campaign, what about doing the LAV-R that was trialled for the Australian Army? That way you kill two birds with one stone.

Cheers Jason

Good thought Jason, you've got sharp eyes there. I remember hearing about this vehicle (Australia only purchased one for testing purposes if I remember correctly?). I have thought about doing this, however I would need to find another affordable 8 wheeled vehicle for the Armored Wheeled Vehicles campaign.

If anybody has any more information on what is available for this kit, or what needs to be corrected please feel free to drop me a line here.
Cheers

Salut Olivier
Just copy and paste it to Google translator will give you an idea of what's written here... (looks like this troll has chosen the wrong site )

I already did that but what Google gave as a result was so weird that I doubted of the translation. But you could be right by calling him a troll

I ran it through two translators and got similar results, neither one of them relevant to anything useful. I believe Frenchy is right...

Be that true, I thank him for his input. What we got from the translator(s) was nothing near that, with exception to the model being good. Thanks for helping us out with the translation Igor.
