Heya, Folks,
Was wondering if the M35 deuce and a half as depicted in the Academy 1/72nd scale kit (#13410) is currently serving with the Marines in OIF?
If I ever get my LCAC done, I thought it might look good on deck...just want to make sure that it would be accurate.
Thanks!
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.

Currently serving, no. They were there in the early days of OIF, before vehicles started being hardened against IEDs. The USMC has traded most of their 2 1/2 ton and 5 ton trucks for the 7 ton MTVR as well.
In the US Army, the M35A2 was being replaced by the M1078 LMTV when OIF began and has been pretty much fully replaced. There were quite a few M35A2's in the 3rd ID during the initial invasion in '03 though. I had 5 in my FA Battery alone. 3ID drew mainly M35A2s since the PrePo stocks in Kuwait and Afloat out of Diego Garcia had not yet been fielded w/LMTVs.

Thanks, Gino. As always, you are beaucoup help!!
Shame there's no MTVR in 72nd or better yet, 35th (my scale of choice) or even the Marine equivalent of the HEMTT.
Guess I'll stick with Humvees, an Abrams and maybe an LAV for the load.
Thanks again, Gino --- I hope that life is good.
Regards and Aloha,
Johnny B.

All is going well here. Thanks.
You may get your wish soon. A while ago, Trumpeter announced a 1/35 version in the works on this site. Of course, I can't find the post with pics now.

Howdy Johnny, no Deuce and a halfs for the USMC lately. In 2003 for OIF it was a mix of 800 and 900 series 5 tons and MTVR 7 tons. The LCAC will only fly with one(1) Abrams on board. Go to 'usmarines.mil' and search the site gallery with keywords 'amphibious' and 'lcac' and you will find some images of LCACs loaded with rolling stock. Outta here, Mike sends . . .

It doesn't pertain to Marine usage, but I had an M35A3 2-1/2 ton truck with .50 cal on it during OIF 1 and 2.
They were phasing the M35 series out of theater and not letting anymore in country when I rotated back to the states in July 2004.
