Scratch that. I remember reading about the 784th but they primarily operated M4A3 105's. Other than that I knew the 92nd were infantry and thats about it.
In addition to the other two tank battalions mentioned, there was also the 555th Parachute Inf Bn (known as the "Triple Nickels"), the 333rd Field Artillery Bn, 666th Quarter Masters Truck Co (Red Ball Express) and others.
I highly recommend Alexander Bielakowski's Osprey Elite book #158 for a synopsis of Black combat troops in all branches of service during WWII. It was really eye-opening for me and I suspect it will be for others as well. My great uncle was in the 92nd Inf Bn in Guadalcanal but was resigned to service duty as a cook and never saw combat. Most African American troops were initially only allowed to serve in those capacities which is why the story of the 761st is so compelling.
