Hi all
Does anybody know of any available kits of modern UK troops (current enough for afghanistan) or any plans to release any?
I have the italeri desert rats but they are loking a little dated and i know AA do a couple of good subjects but they are not what im lookin for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Nick.

"ACCURATE ARMOUR" based in Scotland have probably the best choice & range of modern British Army figs in 1/35 together with weapon sets, kit & stowage items etc.
Cast in resin, the details and castings are as good as it gets and reasonably priced as well. Coupled with fast delivery and great customer service.......what more could you ask for?

Nick
Masterbox have a set lined up, to go with their recent US/Iraq Insurgents releases. No idea of how far they are with this though.
'Sods Law' applies; buy AA's great resin figures then Masterbox will announce theirs in plastic at a fraction of the cost.

As mentioned above, Accurate Armour is your best bet for modern British figures, especially for Afghanistan/Iraq. Firing Line(www.djparkins.com) also has some 'modern' figures, but are more towards the 70s-80s; they do have some head sets that still can be used for current figures. The only other set that may be of use is Dragon's SBS set (#3023) that may still be found lurking about on store shelves. It does include an Accuracy International L96 sniper rifle, and the figures have SAS smocks, boonie hats, shemaghs, and SAS chest rigs. Almost forgot--Verlinden has 2 sets of British figures that are more for the first phases of Operation Telic-set 2037 British Machine Gun Team and set 2038 British Recon. These can also be used for the first Gulf War as well. Weapons include SA-80s, LSWs and FN MAGs. Like the others, I am hoping to see something from Masterbox soon--they seem to have the most original figures on the market and usually do a good job of it. Cheers!
You did not mention scale, but I assume you mean in 1/35 or 54mm; 120mm is another story--if interested, check out The Imperial Gallery for some great figures (do not have web address-can Google it).

Forgot to mention that SB Models (www.sbmodels.uk.net) also has a set of modern heads in their 1/35 scale range, item SBS35-18. It contains 5 heads: one wearing a boonie hat w/sunglasses (my favourite), one with a shemagh wrapped around his head, one each in a beret, combat helmet, and Highland bonnet. Most of these heads will fit Accurate Armour's newest modern British figures-and earlier ones as well. (The head with the beret seems a bit too large). I fit the boonie covered head to Accurate's leaning officer/NCO with his arms crossed, number F11--makes a really "cool" looking figure!

Masterbox making Uk figures? Tell me more - you can't just announce news of this magnitude and leave us drooling. With the new Landrover soon to be released this is even better news.

Masterbox are definately not doing Modern Brit's in any capacity, I have corresponded with Alexander at Masterbox, and they are not on the cards at present.
