Darren: Nice review, and like you I'm not sure I see the need to have the resin parts added. I have a couple of the Zundapp kits from Lion Roar and they are quite nice. I am guessing that they are the same kit?

JT: I was under the impression that they were one and the same, meaning Great Wall Hobby and Lion Roar.

Jeremy: Ah. That sorts it out. I have to get one or two of these, not quite satisfied with the Master Box release...

It's not exactly rocket science, but I can imagine there IS a little confusion.

Great Wall are the styrene kits division of Lion Roar. The M/Cs were originally released under the Lion Roar label. Then, GW launched with SwS in 1/35th scale and from then on, ALL of their styrene kits are marketed under this label.

Firstly thank you for the clarification Jim.

I will be honest in that this kit took me out of my comfort zone, as bikes in this scale and level of detail are not something I really have knowledge of except for the very old Tamiya offering. So with that said I was very pleased with the level of detail provided while still retaining the all important (at least to me) ease of construction. The resin parts available are the only part I had difficulty understanding why there were so many pieces as I could not see for the most part how they improved the model.

Look at the seats for starters; sure the resin offering is thinner and has actual holes through them, but the plastic offering is detailed enough that with a wash the seat would give that impression anyway or just drilled. I have to be fair that it does include some parts that have been missed in the kit, but for the most part these could be easily replicated by the builder. The other resin parts basically just make the build more difficult with to my eye no real improvement. To help you visualise this it replaces items such as the brake levers when the kit option is just as acceptable.

I completely agree with Darren: I didn't see the benefit of the add-on, either.
With today's technology, the standard styrene kits with their small added PE sheets are mostly all you need. This one at least is.
I'll certainly think twice before ordering add-ons wihout having inspected the kit most closely.
