Was quickly flipping through the new Fine Scale Modeller at the book store and saw a review for the DML Morser (it was the Morser wasn't it?).
Man, that thing looked like a big old lump of plastic! Maybe it was the way the photo was taken or something. But, it looked kinda like the big plastic P51's I used to buy and play with when I was very little.
Have you guys who have built this been happy with the results? I have read a few reviews but seen few photos of built kits.

Hi. No it's pretty darn big for 1/35. Quite actually it looks more like 1/16 or 1/12 scale compared to other 1/35 scale models.
Yes, it's nice. At least I like it. Could be improvements to it, or not, depending on how much of a rivet counter a person tends to be. And there are some after-market stuff beginning to come forth for it now too.
I think FSM did a real good job on the article on it. If you would happen to find the #33 issue of MMiR, they also have an article in there on it too. And they rate it as pretty good as well.
Would I buy the other kit of it out there? The 40cm I think it is? No, as having built one is enough for me. Although I do see things I would do differently in assembling it if I had another one to do.
But the fit was good; the detail I'd rate as real good. It all went together pretty well as shown. The biggest AI must tell you, this baby does require quite a bit of paint.
I basically just painted mine the German Yellow and only have added a touch of dark oil wash to it for now. Haven't decided exactly how to weather it as of yet, as this is something I haven't done too much of so far.
But I don't think you would be disappointed if you got one at a good price. I wouldn't pay top dollar for it, so shop around some if you decide to take the plunge.
It's kind of one of those models that once you get it all done you kind of sit back and say: "Wow! that's some kind of model there."
Take care, sgirty

There are certainly bits that have been simplified in the kit, but it does stand out in any collection - anyone looking at my models now ignores the others and asks about the Karl
Mine had a very bad warp in the hull ( I checked out a couple of other kits later and they did not have it tho ), and the decals split in the water, each one going on in 3 or 4 pieces ............. maybe my kit was heat-affected during shipping somehow .............
I just painted the grey scheme with a few washes and some light dry-brushing and pastels - I thought the solid grey made it look bigger - it looks like a battleship next to the other smaller kits.
I agree with sgirty about doing another one - even if the Tristar effort turns out to be a much better kit ( assuming it ever gets released of course .... ), I can't see myself doing another one.
I've had a look at the new Dragon 54cm version, and the susspension is in the travel position, not firing position, and in making the new molds they have done away with all those ejector pin marks along the hull sides - that will save a lot of cleanup time ......
