Hello group,

I am wondering if the Cavalier resin Zimmerit set for the Panther A (tile pattern set) will fit the DML/Dragon kit (#6168)? It seems to specify the Italeri kit on all the online hobby shops and sites I have checked out. Has anyone purchased this and used it on the Dragon Panther A late? If so, how did it work for you?

I don't want to use putty for the zimmerit unless I have to, but I also don't want to buy the Cavalier set only to find out it will not fit the DML kit.

Any constructive comments/opinions welcomed.

Thanks.

Hi. I heard that the Cavalier stuff does not fit the new Dragon models, so I got the set from Atak that is supposed to work. Of course by now maybe Cavalier has newer kits that fits the new Dragon Panthers. Don't know.

Got mine about 3 or 4 months or so ago and haven't had time to do too much with it. I have put it on the rear, lower sides, and front of the hull and like it real well. I think it's even thinner than the Cavalier resin pieces. So it looks even more in scale. But this means that it does tend to tear apart without too much trouble, so you have to be real careful with it.

Now the sheet I got was for the A (early) model #35012, so it's not for the late A model, which I have. Screw up in teh shipping department I suppose. But I think just about the only difference is the mg. in the glacis plate that I will have to cut around once I get to that piece. And maybe some stuff on the rear end as well.

Now Atack has Zimmerit coatings that goes down in the area between the suspension and the hull, which makes for something sort of unique. But the pieces I had didn't fit all that well around all of the little protrusions and such, so I had to cut this section into 3 pieces to get it to fit down correctly around everything. But this is worked out okay, as all I had to do was put just a very small strip of Green Stuff in those resulting gaps and they will be okay once it's painted. But this is a far as I've gotten on this model since then.

You might check out the Atak stuff and see what you think and find out of Cavalier is making any new sheets for the new Dragon models. I picked up my Atack from Great Models.

Take care, and good luck, sgirty

Hey sgirty,

you could always buy the "generic" Cavalier zimmerit sheets and just cut out the shapes you want? I have found i can get at least two full models out of these generic sheets. To me that is better value than buying a pack that is designed for one tank.It takes a little more work, granted, but i think it is much better value.
