I am completely new to Shermans and in building the M4A3 76 (W) from the 761st tank battalion I thought I remember seeing foundry marks on the transmission cover on other Shermans. Could someone provide me photos of this and where I may find this? I'm assuming Archer Fine Transfers.
Any help would be amazing.

Hey Sean
I think you'll find enough info here regarding your inquiry.
Click the links on foundry markings to get some photos and locations.
You need to establish what features are present on your T23 turret in use. The foundry markings did differ in location depending on manufacturer (of course!) and features. Find a photo of a turret that matches the one you are building, then possibly ask again for any extra info based on what you find?

In addition, browse through the more general listings here:
http://the.shadock.free.fr/Tanks_in_France.html
There are several KO'd tanks still on display which appear to never have been scavanged. These give an excellent "slice of time" view on how a particular tank was configured.
This site is also the largest repository of M4A4 and M4A2 photos I know of, a great resource for researching these rare (in North America) birds.
