Hi all.
For some months ago I started to build my M60A1, my first tank ever. I am almost finished with it, I have build the turret, and I have started to attach the reactive armor.
On this model there is a turretbasket, but I didn't succed to build it (I am a beginner you know ). So the one who see the tank will see that it is missing something in the back of it.
I have some questions for you:
I am going to paint the tank soon, can you tell me how to make wash with only brushes (and paint, ofcourse)?
Is there any parts that are not in desert color (I am going to paint it in desert color)?
How do I apply decals on the tank, and when am I going to do this?
BTW: I can take photos in september, when I get a new computer (so I can transfer the pictures from the camera)
Thanks in advance for answers!
Regards:

Jamal,
Good to see ya doing a tank. Can't wait see the pictures. to Answer some of your questions:
1. For wash. make sure you gloss coat first to make the wash easy to flow around, and also protect the base coat. I use brush (I think it's the only way to do wash, some had used airbrush, but it's more like post-shading). And Oil color. use a brownish color thinned with turpetine. just brush at the area you want to wash.
2. I apply decal after the first coat of gloss coat after the paint of the base color. before I do wash. remember to also apply a coat of gloss coat before you do the wash. So it goes like
Base coat - gloss coat - decal - gloss coat - wash.
As for the equipments, since I am not in modern armor, I cannot help here.

Welcome to the more forgiving side of military modeling
This would depend on which M60A1 tank with reactive armor you have. Is it the Israeli M60[A1] "Blazer" or the USMC M60A1 w/reactive armor. Both look similar, but are quite different sets of reactive armor and gun tubes. If it is IDF, then the wsand grey color varies and I'll let the IDF experts tell you the correct colors. If it is the Marine Corps variant, it can be painted in Model Master desert sand or the standard green 3-color scheme that the Marines used.
Enjoy your kit, whose model are you building?

Thanks for answers Dave and Rob.
Rob, The kit is from Tamiya. It is the American version of the M6A1 w reactive armor. It is an early kit from Tamiya (from 1970, I think).

Well, part of it is. The base kit is an old 70s M60A1 which was upgraded to an M60A3TTS in the late 80s. They the ERA and USMC parts were added after the Gulf War in 1991.
