I tried a couple different colors of this paint, and I have to say I was rather disappointed. The paint doesnt't seem to stick very well, and doesnt cover well either. I tried two different models, one bare, clean plastic and one primed with white enamel primer that had dried for a couple days. I used my badger 275 and my aztek 4709, didn't have much luck with either. Just curious what others experiences were.

Just curious mikeli125 what do you use to thin them with for spraying. I have just got some of the model color ones for hand brushing and find them excellent compared to the Tamiya paint i had been using. I was thinking of trying them in my airbrush to see how they compared. Any tips would be appreciated.

Let me get this straight, so you _can_ spray the regular ones? I've seen several posts saying they were unsuitable in the airbrush, but I wondered, 'cause I've seen a few articles by MIG, where he says he uses them for airbrushing, but never how.

Very Cool. Did you just thin them with distilled ater, alcohol, or go with the Vallejo thinner?

Bribo i have the day off work tomorrow and intend to try airbrushing with them (didn't get time at the weekend). I will give you an update on how they turned out in the next day or so. Please note i am not an experienced user of the airbrush just learning slowly.

I used Vallejo Model Air in several ocasions and it workwed well. Normally I donīt thin it, just apply it directly as it comes in the bottle. When I need to thin it I use Vallejo Thinner.
The thinner that you use is very importatnt in this paint.

Hi everyone
I hung back on joining this thread, because I've never tried Vallejo's Model Air.
I've tried the Model Color and posted a thread to get some advice... there's plenty of helpful tips here:-)

Well i finally got round to trying to airbrush the Vallejo model colour paints. The results of a not too scientific test are here
http://groups.msn.com/armorama/chipotlesbits.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=13143
I was going to use a 1:1 ratio of each thinner but this would not work for the iso and the Vallejo thinner. Paint used was 894 Russian green shot through an Aztek 470 with the black nozzle onto a piece of plastic card. Pressure was 15-20 psi.
A= 1:1 Paint and filtered water (distilled not available) I found it sprayed ok but i did get a small amount of running due to spaying too much paint. Drying time was longer than with the other two thinners. Once dry the coverage was good and even.
B= Paint + isopropanol. I mixed it 1:1 to start but i found it was too thick so i added more iso till it was ok to spray. I thought the results were better than A with faster drying time and more even coverage. It is worth mentioning that when added together it looked like the liquids congealed but after a good stirring the mix was OK.
C= Paint + Vallejo thinner 061.Once again i had to add more thinner than paint to get the correct mixture. This went on well about the same as the iso mix. When you add the thinner it is a milky colour but that does not appear to affect the final sprayed appearance and dissapeared once stirred.
In conclusion i will be using either the iso or vallejo thinner. I am sure if i played around with the water mix a bit more i could get better results for spraying. I normally use Tamiya for airbrushing and find them very good. The reason i initially got the vallejo paints was for dry brushing as the tamiya dries too fast.
I hope this helps you out Bribo, as i said i am not the best when it comes to airbrushing so take these results as a very rough guide.
