Hi there
Photo journalism is a very touchy subject when it comes to images of war, death and brutality. It amazes me that there is every bit as much of variation in peoples opinions and acceptance level in photos as there is with dioramas.
To compare, I have bought loads of books from The Works (a mainstream British bargain book shop) on WW1, WW2 and other conflicts that contain often very frank and lurid scenes of the true horrer of war. I have even seen the early photographic records of the American Civil War.
I am afraid to say, that I for one, cannot accept that a hobby such as ours that specifically looks at such wide and varied tools and equipment for killing and maiming cannot be as responsive to the aftermath of using these dealers in DEATH !
After all, we must be able to appreciate that if we are to use these weapons, the reality is that people WILL BE MAIMED AND KILLED.
I would rather that people are shown the true HORRERS of war as sanitising war, in some ways, makes it more acceptable that it is ok for others to do our bidding, and for others, friend or foe, to be killed or injured in the process.
Dioramas are a way to do photo journalism in a three D manner.
Sensor this dio and you should therefor sensor a dio containing a single knife, sword, gun or even a clenched fist.
Just my humble oppinion for what it is worth, and this is with the GREATEST RESPECT to all the fine modellers who contribute on this fantastic site.
