sorry ment to add this to the post below as well,
can any one tell me the best way to paint the rims of these wheels as I'm assuming the paint didnt stay on for long and would have rusted but would they have been shiney or dull? and whats the best way to replicate this

I paint them the base color of the tank, usually some type of green. After I've given them a wash, I take an ordinary pencil (No.2, yellow shaft, pink eraser/rubber) and color the circumference with the pencil lead. Gives a nice metallic sheen and is a relatively inexpensive medium that is readily available.
Now this assumes you are referring to the all-metal road wheels and not the rubber rimmed ones.
