Hello all,
Below a vignette I barely finished two or three years ago, and I decided today to put the final touch and put and end on it.
Hope you like it. Comments welcomed, they will be taken into consideration for the next vignette.
ps : all the groundwork is natural
Best,
Julien

Hi Julien, nice job to this vignette and look realistic to the eyes paint.
One comment and hope that you don't mind. For my opinion about the base at the right hand side from the picture if it a little expand I think it much be better. Apologize to my English that not so well. Have a nice day Julien.

The figures are very nicely done, the vignette is good overall.
However, because Its sailors I would expect to see something other than a natural scene, I would expect a pier or dock scene.

Julien, the groundwork indeed doesn't work.
The sailors are marching through a field of flowers? No path, nothing?
Also, looking at the cloths of the sailors, i presume the season is not winter.
So i expect green groundwork. ( i don't really believe you that the yellow flower is natural, oherwise you have a goldmine there and should sell some to fellow modellers LOL)
Your tree is so minimalistic, come on, even in the Bois de Boulogne you shoud be able to find a better branch or root to simulate a tree.
Otherwise try scratchbuilding one the next time.
Sorry if this was a bit hard. It's Monday morning!
Salut
Claude

Hi guys,
Thanks Praesert !
Scot, many soviet sailors were used inland, as the russian fleet at that time was non existant. Sailors fought a lot for the defense of the city of Sebastopol for example.
Joachim, what an harsh answer, I blame our work colleague for the monday they had.... Ok so the sailors are dressed for mid season. If we were in summer they would wear their carachteristic blue and white stripes tee shirts. So uniform is coherent with automn setting.
The flower are nothing than pure natural stuff. I collected them on the bouquet of a friend of my ex wife, her wedding bouquet. Everybody tought I was mad...I never found the name of such flower or found them in flower shop. I have few of them still, but I won't share them, specially with you
And the tree is minimanilistic. I even glued additional branches to make it less poor. But I don't know if you made a lot of small vignette, but if you put something much bigger than the figures, like telegraph pole, tree, colomn, this often divert the sight of the viewer, which should be concentrate on the figure. That why I put a short tree. But next time I do a tree, believe me I will psend hours on it just to avoid your reaction.
Thanks Sarge Roudeleiw for your kick ass comments, next time I will post my work on Saturday )
Best,
Julien

ok, ok, sorry, i owe you a beer then! But my comment regarding the tree still stands!
Here is what happened on sunday evening and is probably the reason for my post mood on Monday (you were not the only victim! LOL Aplologize to everyone!
On sunday evening, after a 12 hour modeling day, i declared finished Dio Clervaux( for now) and just wanted to add one little piece of luggage to a Jeep and therefore brought it upstairs again. May i say i tried to bring it upstairs?
It fell down to the floor and broke into 20 pieces! Aaaargghhhh! So much for declaring everything finished!
I nearly booted it in frustration but could retain myself. I was lucky enough to find all the pieces (it happened in the hallway)
Well, it is repaired now but has still a damage i could not get fixed right now. ( i will not disclose it, otherwise everyone will look out for it and the expo)
I promise to retain myself in he future
J'espère que tu me pardonne

Claude, Aucun problème, même énervé tu as su garder un brin d'humour !
When I took the picture of the vignette, azn ashtray felt on my tree, breaking some of the few branches it had... I could easily understand what should have a been the breaking of your gigantic dio : 100 times my exasperation.
Best

Thanks
Fortunately in was only a Jeep and not the dio, the problem is that i have only 4 vehicles to display and then one breaks. I am not very easy with vehicles and have to redo one of them! Ok, it's nearly fixed now and my mood is better already. Like you said, it could be worse.
