Wondering how the trail of the B4 Howitzer was raised/lowered when emplacing. The US 155mm/8" had a capstan on the limber to raise and lower the trails - but how did the gun crew of the B4 stabilize the trail to allow removal of the limber and repositioning of the spade - then lower the trail down. More importantly how did they raise the trail off the ground to prepare for travel.
There are 2 crank arms on either side of the trail and a large round "plate" assembly underneath the trail - did the crank arms lower and raise the "plate" to lift and lower the trail. Never seen any pictures or discussions on how this worked.
