That is a IR searchlight and the stowage box for it on the back.

Look here http://www.panzer-modell.de/referenz/in_detail/kajapa/kajapa.htm

Yes. The same is also used on the Leopard 1 and some german M48A2 variants so a more global search should yield something

Here you find some more pictures (Choose Referenzen from the left hand menue then Im Detail in the middle frame)

While in Stationed in Germany our sister unit was a Jagdpanzer unit and I got to see them drive through our motor pool and fire on te tank range back in 78. You could see the HEAT round head to the target. I may have some pictures I could scan and send or post in the pictures section. I'm not computer literate enough for photo bucket yet.

1. Perfect Scale has a resin set of proper tracks but I think some have found them hard to work with.
2. I think you could use the AFV Club German Schutzenpanzer Marder DIEHL 828A Workable Track Link Set but you would have to modify the guide horn for each track section.

Nice work. Are you going to attempt to correct the hatches?

If I'm right, the problem is with the wrong number of vision blocks on the hatches.
You can compared with the PSM upgrade kit.

Just like Leopard hatches there are two layers. The top layer is flush with the mg ring when the hatch is closed. The bottom layer is flush with the hull when the hatch is closed.

Multiple issues here with the kit. The molded a lip as part of the mg ring. You can saw that off from the side with a razor saw. But you still have to recreate the bottom layer plus the hull isn't really molded to accept the bottom layer.

I'm not sure about the periscopes. I would have to check the books I've got.

Hi David and Paul,
I was pretty sure this hatch topic was already dealt with before at Armorama.
I finally managed to find the topic and here is a clear picture showing the differences between PSM and Revell hatches.

Here is the link to the blog

http://armorama.com/forums/125777&page=1

The number of periscopes is wrong on the Revell kit too.

Thanks for the info Oliver.

I see the hinge location is wrong as well on the commander's hatch.
