Howdy
I am going to start painting a few figures and I am going to use oil paints.
To get the colors I need I will need to mix then to create darker and lighter shades of the basecolor, but I do not think that I will finish a figure in one night.
Is there a way to preserve the mixed oil paint for later use? (I heard somewhere to put it in the fridge??) and how long can you store the paint?

I'm not an expert in figures, but this is what I do to preserve the mixed oil paints I use for drybrushing AFVs for a few days/weeks:
- mix them on a glass, on a piece of plastic or a piece of paper for oven use as a palette
- once finished with your painting session just cover the palette with the transparent kitchen plastic film
- store the palette in the fridge in the vegetables section
Ciao

Fabio's right on. Thats what my sister (the painter) does. In my oil paint use I have noticed that if I want to use the paint/mix the next day - I mix extra up front and at worse a thin 'skin' forms over the blob and I can 'break' in under it to get at wet paint.

Good comments from Scott and Fabio.
I'll just add that I wrap my pallet in foil and place in a freezer bag. This seems to help keep the "skin" factor down after thaw. I can get a few weeks of life this way rather than a few days. Seems to help the paints from drying out.
