Would detail kits for other manf. model's based on the same Tank (this one is initial I believe) fit this model?
And more of a historical question, would zimmerit be appropriate? I know I can make it however, but just a question before I got started. I havent decided on basing it off of a historical event yet.
Any feed back would be appreciated.

JB,
I used the interior from Tank Workshop for my Tiger (see photos in my gallery) and it fit fine. A little adjusting here and there, a little scratch building and gizmology and it turns out pretty good. As for zimmerit, depends on what time frame you are modeling. If it's a vehicle before 1943, then no you don't need it. From early '43 to late '44 though, you must have it on. Hope this helps.

Engine grill screens, tool clips and such should be no problem. The early Tigers with the drum cupola did not receive Zimmerit, except for some training school tanks mobilized for combat use near the end of the war.
Buyers should be aware Academy's turret shell is not really correct in shape, as it is symmetrical, whereas the real turret bulged out on one side (which is why the gun is off center in the mantlet, to bring the gun back to the turret ring centerline). Italeri's Tigers have the same problem, plus poor fit and engineering. Tiger Model Designs used to offer a resin replacement turret shell.
Current Dragon, Tamiya and AFV Club Tiger kits are correct in shape.

Eduard make an extensive series of PE update sets for this kit which are bundled together in one package in their "Big Ed" series if you want to do them all. Atak Model make a resin zimmerit set for it and PE zimm is done by Eduard and might be part of the Big Ed set - you'd have to check. Most of the various AM track sets should work and Academy even make an indy link set in plastic themselves. You should have no trouble finding bits specifically for this kit.
