OK guys I'm going to try my hand at building a Achzarit IFV or APC what ever you want to call it. I found some photos of a newer version so that's the one I'll try and build. Photo's of the real 1:1 tank




Here's the kit I statred with and some of my work.

Once I had a starting point I just kep adding to this front upper hull section.

OK guys I made the rear sections to long so I cut them down and I feel they look better.

You'er doing an excellent job.
The second photo you posted of the rear is of the prototype vehicle at Lutrun.
There is a basket at the rear although on some it is left off. If you are a member over on IDF-in-scale they have plenty of photos and will be able to help.

Cool!!!! Amazing work on it so far!!! Where you have found the various measurement for doing the whole structure of the vehicle, I'm very interested.

Now I have not build the rear of the engine section so If I have to build a basket I will.

Now as for making measurement Merki4, I only do it when some one asks me to. Short two part story: First way back when I was 13 in my Jr High shop class I would alway get away with not measuring any thing till I got caught by the shop teacher. Part two He asked the day I got caught how long have you bean building things with out measuring any of these things? sins last year I said.
I'm an art student and I draw people's faces realy well among othere things. "SO" I have always had a strong space-relation.
I'm working on it to day and I'll have new photos up soon......

Hi Vincent... Another interesting project, I'll keep an eye on it. About IDF in Scale... They used receive a lot of bogus registrations, only spam, so becoming a member is now very restricted, Registrations are opened once in a while, I think... Lemme see, maybe I can recommend you for becoming a member, but remember, you must be an active user on that forum, unnactive accounts (posting or replying) for more than 1 year, will be "removed"... I would like to keep my build close to the photo os the prototype as I can. I just need some over head photos.

Yes I have to replace the T-55s' with Merkava Mk.III road wheel. Even knowint tht this is a Prototype, I'm still going to finish it with wethering. (Used Look). I had to paint the wheels and some of the lower hull. SO when I get the sides of my Namera added on I'll post new photos of my work on this project.

yes they should be Centurion wheels but I don't have any and I'm trying to save some money. Now if I can get the "Accurate Armour wheel" here in the states, an they are at a low cost. I'll get them.

Hay guys I'll try the AFV club's Centurion MK5/1 V.N Suspension and Wheels
set. These wheels look a bit small and the Mk.III wheels look to be the right size in scale., but I'll get these wheels first and then post photo of the hole free Mk.III wheels next to these Centurion MK5 wheels.

You know I'll do a test fit with both wheels on the APC first.

The serial production Achzarit have its grille and louvers on the upper side of the engine compartment.
The APC in you 2nd picture is the prototype based on the "Samovar" T55 with 8V71 engine, with its grille in the rear of the hull. This 2nd picture is of the Achzarit prototype in the Latrun museum, and it is not a good reference for the standard ones.

Hay : glock17c I like the prototype and that's what I'm building.
Here I added the grees plugs to the sprocket wheels.


Seen on the rear APC 's wheels, both in color and with out color.

If you are building the proto, you cannot/don't need the use of Centurion (Shot) wheels.

You also need a good shot of the hull's deck, as it is very different from the serial production.

Yes Michael your right I do need an over head view of the deck. I'm taking my time on this project and I'll do a little work on it day by day, will I'm looking for just those photos. An when I find them I'll post them in this thread...

Achzarit Walkaround

I now can say that my build of this prototype/concept will hav elements of the old and the concept. To have a realy nice looking prototype/concept Achzarit.

Now after looking over the front of the prototype achzarit. Man that thing look's ugly. I don't like the front of it but I do like the rear of it. So one thing I could do is build my own prototype., but that silly and unrealistic. So if I can find some of the holded screan like Blackwater used. I'll rebuild the rear of my IFV.
But for now I hold off on doing any work to that section.
Now I'm still going to work on the front:Right and Left. An yes this mean adding small detailed items like the RCWS MG and LIC protective cupola. That way I can keep working on this project.


Hay dose any one have a photo of the opossite side of my first photo? It would show me just the right shape to build and also show me it that holded screan is used. As it's not used on the left side shown in the first photo.

Proto is what it is. There are no RCWS or LIC features on it...

I'm not going to build the Pototype any more or mix parts. As If I mix the rear section of the Prototype with that of the APC in the first photo. I don't thing any one will be interested in my project as what if any more. SO I'm going to build just what I see in the first photo I posted to start this build. An I found a photo of the othere side.
Now about the use of LIC-Low Intensity Conflict equipment I ment the letters LIC to point out the protective cupola and the RCWS-Remote Control Weapons System. Both use on the production Achzarit T-54-55 APC.

Now remember I started this build so I would not have to use those hole filled screens. As I have no Iead of were I would get them othere that a Eduard PE set. So let me know what you think? So keep the ptoto's rear section, or build the production rear section?

My opinion - if that's the one you want to build, do it right and put on the proper rear end as per production vehicles. Anything else will just be a 'what-if'.
