Hi all,
Anyone know of an online walkround of this vehicle ?
I'm planning to build the Italeri kit with the wooden cargo bed and need some references. Or, is there a preserved example in the UK somewhere that I can photograph?
TIA,
Andy

Hi Andy,
A word of caution. I've build a few of these and for some bizzar reason when you glue the axels the plastic goes soft!!. My advice would be to put in a copper/brass rod to strengthen them at the start, other wise it's a fun build.
Some links that should help

Pierre - those photos are really useful, thanks.
Alan - Have those links already, but thanks for the tip on the axles. Anything else to trip me up ?
Appreciate the quick replies,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Nope, there is no PE set for the 15cwt that i know of so check your references and improvise accordingly. The fit of the doors can be an issue, but I think you could fit them as half doors, at least as far as I can remember.
Hussar do a nice set of resin wheels if you want to go that route and you could always turn it into a ffw truck if you have a mind to.
Enjoy the build.

There is a PE set for the Chev FAT that you might be able to steal from.
The old Peerless kits had a lot of detail, but a lot of it is thickly executed. An awful lot of parts would benefit from rebuilding out of more-scale plastic. I've got a 1/2 bult Chev Fat and I have recreated a lot of the smaller or more delecate subassemblies to get a more scale effect. I didn't like the seat cushions in my kit so I scratchbuilt a few new parts with appropriate wrinkling & sagging and cast them up to make the 6 seats in the FAT. They look a lot better. Also, be prepared to fill a LOT of sink marks. Still, these are great kits and with a little TLC really reward the modeller with a nice result.

Thanks for the additional info guys. Any photos of your model and the scratchbuilt parts, Paul ?
I know these kits are nowhere near the quality of todays offerings but I am having a moment of nostalgia ! Built this before, many, many years ago.
I have also found an Eduard mini-set that just includes the front grille and a few key parts, so will be getting that one. One or two mid-process projects to finish first and I can make a start on this. (one day)
Cheers
